Install and sign in
Install MOLD from the Marketplace, click the icon in the activity bar, sign in through the browser. One minute, no OpenSCAD to install.
Write and render
Open a .scad file and press Ctrl+Alt+R. The model shows up in the sidebar; errors land in the Problems panel with file and line.
Tune and export
Sliders for parameters, STL/3MF/OFF export, snapshots from seven views, measurements and mesh defects. All without leaving the editor.

Generic assistants only see text. MOLD’s AI renders the model, measures volume and bounding box, checks shells and open edges, looks at snapshots. Then it proposes a patch you review in the diff.
Pick a level for every run: low for quick jobs, medium and high for plans and implementations. You see the credit estimate before you start.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to install OpenSCAD?
- No. Rendering runs on our servers, in a sandbox with OpenSCAD and BOSL2. You only need VS Code (or Cursor, VSCodium, Windsurf) and an account.
- Do my files stay private?
- Sources travel encrypted and live in memory only for the duration of the render. The cache keeps a hash and the generated model, never the code. No training on your data.
- What counts towards the 20 renders a day on Free?
- Only actual renders: preview, export, snapshots and measurements. Error checks are always free, and a render already in cache does not count.
- What are AI credits?
- The Pro plan includes 150 credits a month for the AI workflows. One credit is €0.01 of model cost: a fix costs a few tenths of a credit, a plan a few units. Purchased extra credits never expire.
- Can I use my own AI instead of MOLD’s?
- Yes, and it is free: the MOLD tools are exposed to Copilot and VS Code agents. AI Pro is for those who want ready-made workflows and a model that really sees the geometry.
- Does it work with multi-file projects and BOSL2?
- Yes. Workspace include and use statements are resolved automatically; BOSL2 is preinstalled on the worker, just include <BOSL2/std.scad>.
